Sacred Sanctuary San Diego

Sacred Sanctuary San Diego

Sacred Sanctuary San Diego (SSSD) was our first temple creation. SSSD is a remarkable 4000 square foot temple dedicated to our universal tribes and where a variety of healing restoring and awakening workshops, classes, and retreats have taken place over the past 11 years. The large room holds 2 puja circles or 40+ and for concerts can hold 80. The backyard can hold 100 and the two smaller rooms can hold 15 each. We offer an exquisite four bedroom, four bathroom retreat setting for individuals, couples, and groups. Our expansive kitchen has been an ideal place to host live food workshops, demos, and taste parties and for live food interns to create masterpieces.

SSSD is available to other facilitators to rent and produce approved events. See our Sacred Sanctuary San Diego photo gallery.

We have planted an extensive perennial and herb garden and maintained fountains that support a variety of butterflies and birds. We are surrounded by the medicine of San Diego. We are 2 miles from the protected wildlife preserve Torrey Pines State Beach, 10 minutes to the stunning Del Mar cliffs, 15 minutes to the marine preserve of Lo Jolla Cove and tidal pools, 20 minutes to the breathtaking Sunset Cliffs, and 12 minutes to the always entertaining and inspiring prime real estate that is Del Mar dog beach. We are five minutes from the magic of Penasquitos Canyons, rivers and the last undeveloped Mesas in Southern California for hiking and horseback riding. We are right next to San Diegita Park, the bird sanctuary of Penasquitos Lagoon, and the infamous Blacks Beach with its surfing, nudist beach, full moon drum circles, and hang gliding port. Sacred Sanctuary San Diego is ideal for nearby, short and all day nature walks and hikes of all kinds down to the river, boulders, and canopies of ancient oak trees. DeviAlchemy offers personalized and conservation-friendly hiking, shamanic journeys, scuba diving, kayaking, snorkeling, bodysurfing, bodyboarding, and surfing lessons and daily swimming in our kelp gardens and with our frequent local pods of dolphin, seals, and leopard sharks in our semi-warm clear oceans. Sunrise and Sunset ceremonial cleanses, chants, and meditations start our days and our ceremonial hikes, boulder hopping, and mountain biking build endurance, meditation, consciousness, and advanced shamanic journeying.

SSSD is also offered as a seasonal home to the Gaden Shartse Tibetan Buddhist Monks who have lived prayed and performed healing rituals here for countless beings. These monks and Rimpaches have performed numerous healing awakening and purification sound ceremonies for large groups and rituals and blessed this temple as a bona fide sanctuary where Green Tara resides graciously hosting and welcoming all.

SSSD is a home for a variety of animal medicine including The BonaDea Collection our exotic and endangered temple serpents. Serpents are one form of animal medicine on the wheel of animal totems and are used in many of our classes, workshops, moving meditations, and rituals. We are honored to observe and share space with them. They are tended to by our sanctuary herpetology interns. Sacred Sanctuary is also home to several resident canines. Carmen, Jenny, and Odabear are registered service and therapy dogs who have been awarded and earned news media coverage with Dr. Lisa, Ph.D for their work at elementary schools, PTA’s, community centers, after-day care for children and elders in Del Mar, Oceanside, La Jolla, and MiraMesa. Odabear and Jennygirl have entensive resumes for their annual volunteer work in the Dog Bite Prevention Programs for National Dog Bite Prevention Week. They are cuddlers, healers, and collaborators holding the space for us all.
